Salary: £60,000 per year
PROJECT MANAGER – PERMANENT – MAIN CONTRACTOR
£55,000 – £60,000 + package
An exciting permanent opportunity for an experienced construction Project Manager to work for a leading Regional Main Contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across the region.
Our client is a leading regional main contractor within the region. Operating across most sectors including Commercial, Education and Industrial on primarily New Build with some refurbishment projects. The company has a loyal and robust client base having already secured a significant pipeline of work across the South West region for 2020. Typical projects are between £5Million – £10Million in value.
As Project Manager, you will be responsible as the number one on construction projects reporting to a Contracts Manager:
*Oversee the project’s pre-commencement requirements, including permit submission, discharge of planning conditions and driving upfront design in line with the Information Release Schedule and Design Release Programme.
*Create and own programmes for the project, to be fully resourced to facilitate robust procurement of trades and accurate reporting.
*Create and manage the budgets for each project, including all procurement requirements of supplies, materials and labour.
*Ensure effective communication through regular meetings with the client, design team, key stakeholders and construction team.
*Manage client expectations and understand and fully embrace their KPI requirements and adopt a professional and considerate approach to forge and maintain good working relations.
*Work closely with the commercial team to negotiate with vendors, suppliers and sub-contractors to de-risk package overspend and implement the supply chain policy.
*Review performance against targets; identify and manage potential risks and opportunities.
*Establish standards of quality on site and ensure delivery of a quality build in accordance with the project specifications and project requirements. Oversee subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality standards are met through robust procedures, inspections and test plans.
*Review monthly costs with the commercial team to ensure that there is no unnecessary waste and to maximise profit.
*Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management, and ensure the construction team complies with standard procedures and processes.
*Undertake Personal Development Reviews with your team members and provide support and identify relevant training where applicable.
*Implement project strategies to achieve the company’s sustainability objectives.
*Where applicable, adopt the principles of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and manage community relations; ensure appropriate site image is maintained to encourage repeat business.
*Organise the works and supply chain to deliver a coordinated approach and provide the right working environment to avoid disruption between trades.
*Undertake the works in the most economic manner to eliminate waste and avoid non-recoverable costs and preliminaries losses; monitor and work to agreed preliminaries budget.
*Maintain continuous professional development to ensure appropriate technical awareness.
*Manage project handover and ensure defect free completion and support the strategy for the closure of snags during the defects period and obtain Certificate of Making Good within 4 weeks of the PC date.
*Lead and motivate the works team, provide clear direction and respond to queries to ensure delivery of a quality product.
The successful candidate will likely have;
*Experience as Project Manager working for a Regional or National Main Contractor
*A steady permanent background and a demonstrable track record in delivering Construction projects more than £5 Million in value
*SMSTS, CSCS and 1st Aid qualifications
*Commutable within the region
