Are you a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to contribute to the commercial success of projects in the social housing sector? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial administration of contracts, ensuring accurate invoicing, cost reconciliation, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

Measure and value work for assigned contracts, maintaining margins within agreed targets.
Ensure timely and accurate production of applications, invoices, and final accounts.
Resolve measured works queries and remeasured works with clients and their representatives.
Handle commercial reporting for assigned contracts, including forecasting and CVRs where applicable.
Liaise with internal and external clients, preparing and presenting all required reports and documentation.

The Person

Proficiency in SOR, Open Book, and Cost Plus pricing models is essential.
Strong understanding of commercial strategy and its impact on profit and cash management.
Knowledge and experience in handling claims and dispute resolution.
Ability to prepare and interpret financial reports.
Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Familiarity with sub-contract orders, buying, and estimating processes.
Understanding of management accounts and forecasting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Proven main contractor experience in a commercial role on response & planned maintenance contracts in the social housing sector.
Knowledge and understanding of measurement and valuation, including the use of Schedule of Rates (NHF 6.1, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, RoS 7.0, 7.1, 7.2).
Strong commercial skills to maximize value recovery and cost control.
Familiarity with contractual obligations under various forms of contract.
Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables).
